B2C marketplace for used electric vehicles
Eccasion is a B2C marketplace for used electric vehicles, founded in October 2024 by two of the founders of Swapfiets, the repeat operators who previously scaled their business to €100M ARR.
The company targets a structural gap in the used car market: consumers — particularly used EV buyers concerned about battery health and technical transparency — are poorly served by traditional dealerships, whose inventory-led models incentivise pushing existing stock rather than helping customers identify the best car for them.
Eccasions model inverts that dynamic. It acts as a buyer’s agent, bidding on behalf of consumers at B2B leasing company auctions, armed with the buyer’s pre-stated preferences, deposit and financing. EVs are treated as digital assets assessed remotely via battery diagnostics and AI, and a network of local repair partners handles any reconditioning before delivery. The full journey from customer intent to delivery takes 2-3 weeks and is almost entirely online, underpinned by transparent, consumer-aligned pricing and a near-zero inventory footprint.
We’re backing Eccasion because the trust gap in used EVs is structural rather than cosmetic, and the team has the operating pedigree to solve it. The founders have already built and scaled a category-defining consumer mobility business in Swapfiets, and they’re attacking a problem where no direct competitor is targeting B2C demand with an asset-light model. The consumer-led auction approach is a genuinely differentiated wedge in a market dominated by supply-focused incumbents.
Beyond the core wedge, we see a much larger long-term opportunity. 74% of Eccasion’s buyers are first-time EV owners, creating a natural path to own the customer relationship well beyond the car sale — spanning financing, insurance, home charging and future energy services like solar. Further out, the model has the potential to expand into C2C as customers return to trade in and upgrade, pointing to a ~10x TAM expansion and strong compounding unit economics. In short: a high-trust entry point into a lifetime relationship around sustainable living, led by founders who have done it before.
