Rack maintenance for the AI data center
Exclaim Robotics is building a mobile, dexterous manipulation robot purpose-designed for in-rack maintenance work in the white space of AI data centers - the floor area housing servers, storage, and networking equipment.
Positioned as a "remote hands" automation platform, the robot progressively expands the scope of work it can perform on the rack as its underlying autonomy stack matures - turning a single deployment into an ever-widening set of capabilities over time.
The data center build-out and rising compute demands are forcing a new generation of infrastructure into production, running on 800VDC racks that can no longer be maintained with traditional methods. Combined with existing labour shortages in data center operations and the tight timelines hyperscalers face to bring this infrastructure online, operators are being pushed to adopt entirely new ways of managing their operations. That's a strong market pull for Exclaim Robotics - and as of today, that market remains unserved by any real solution.
While Exclaim's technology isn't built on one single breakthrough, the team is structurally well placed to combine their experience and expertise into a platform that solves the hardest problem in this space: deploying robots reliably in highly sensitive environments. Around Helen Oleynikova (ETH PhD, named one of AI's 2000 Most Influential Scholars in Robotics, ex-Nvidia, ex-Microsoft) and three founding engineers from Nvidia and ETH, the team has already shipped the production robotics infrastructure - including nvblox and curobo - that their autonomy stack is now built on.
That track record makes Exclaim one of the strongest teams we've seen in dexterous data center robotics, and gives them a real edge over competitors who are building each layer for the first time. It's the combination of timing and team that convinced us to invest.
